Manager/Director

Location – Based in Australia (with ability to travel to our offices in Sydney and Melbourne)

We’re looking to fill a senior position in our team for a person with strong analytics capability and a background working in the corporate or government sectors, who can lead projects and support further business development.

This role offers a nice mix of client engagement and hands-on project management. As a senior member of the team, you’ll be a strong leader who can design and execute analytical solutions and supervise effectively, developing a team of consultants to ensure the successful completion of projects within set timelines and budgets.

Our analytics capability applies the latest statistics, machine learning and data science research and techniques to help clients create real business value and get the most out of their data. The team cover a broad range of projects, such as personalised marketing, insurance pricing, resource optimisation, people analytics and other services that provide our clients with insights to improve performance.

Your key areas of focus

  • Work closely with clients to understand their needs
  • Deliver tailored, commercial solutions using advanced data modelling and analysis
  • Identify and develop new and innovative analytical solutions that best fit client needs
  • Provide strategic advice to clients, informed by collaborating with relevant parts of the business
  • Participate in the full project life cycle, from planning, scoping and directing projects to determining pricing, resourcing and delivering outcomes efficiently, while ensuring technical quality
  • Lead projects or streams of work on large projects, demonstrating skill in managing client needs and lines of enquiry, client meetings and difficult client discussions
  • Organise and drive successful completion of projects or streams of work on large projects, through effective management of consultants, and adherence to timelines and budgets
  • Communicate results and insights to clients and senior stakeholders clearly and concisely in speaking and writing
  • Be responsible for the day-to-day management, training and development of team members
  • Actively contribute to business development, identifying new client opportunities and expanding on services to current clients
  • Contribute strategically to proposal, pitch and tender efforts
  • Be a collegiate and supportive member of the client-facing team, contributing to firm strategy, business planning and resourcing discussions and activities.

About you

  • Experience in an analytics-focused role, with good industry knowledge
  • Experience in a consulting environment with direct exposure to clients an advantage
  • Deep understanding of predictive modelling, statistics and/or machine learning and scripting languages such as R and Python
  • An ability to interpret and analyse complex technical data with high attention to detail
  • Experience leading projects or streams of work on large projects
  • Experience with leading people, and an enthusiasm for supervising and training junior team members
  • Strong organisational skills, with the ability to assimilate information quickly and handle multiple priorities under pressure or within tight deadlines
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the self-assurance to liaise with clients and diverse stakeholder audiences
  • A creative and innovate thinker, confident in identifying and selling services and new ideas to clients
  • Someone who takes pride in their work – taking time to form deep client relationships, actively listening to client needs, and providing advice and solutions that meet their objectives.
